Darn jim the last time i had a turbo 350 was 20 years ago and the kickdown didn t work and i didn t care. Then on the carb end you cut the cable to your needs and adjust. I am already using an after market bracket for the throttle and factory kick down cables. Somehow i remember that type of adjustment on a 700r4 not a 350.

So the lokar kick down cable would bolt right up to this bracket. It connects on the tranny end just like the stock cable. This unit is designed for use with select applications including gm th400 and th350. The b m adjustable vacuum modulator part 20234 comes pre adjusted for normal shift points but it is fully adjustable see below allowing you to customize the shift points within a range of 2 4 mph.

The kickdown cable is properly adjusted when bothof the following conditions are met. In this article i will explain in brief how to adjust this yourself in about 5 10 minutes. You are able to open the throttle to the wide open position without interference from the kickdown cable. The 350 has a governor and a vacuum modulator to regulate shifts rather than a throttle valve that also tailors shift points like on the others.

On the 350 the cable is just for kickdown. With the carb at wot the cable should be pulled out of the trans as far as it will go is it. Over time this cable can come out of adjustmant and cause improper shifting which is not only annoying but can prove to be harmful to the transmission. The kickdown function of general motors vehicles equipped with the turbo 350 automatic transmission is perhaps better known as passing gear as the accelerator is depressed the throttle lever on the engine is drawn back by a cable which in turn pulls another cable attached to the transmission causing it to downshift into a lower gear.
